Disable the electrical system. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Loosen the clamp on the black cable, then take it off of the terminal. Let it sit for five minutes to make certain the electrical systems are no longer receiving power.

Shift the steering column to its lowest position. Take off the lower cover of the dashboard and remove the steering column cover by removing the two fasteners by turning them clockwise. Take out the retaining screws to remove the steering column cover.

Detach the electrical connector in the back of the ignition switch, Take off all mounting screws in the front. Remove the switch.

Remove the key lock cylinder by unplugging the three electrical connectors. Disconnect the connectors from the immobilizer control unit. The connector for the ignition switch must be unplugged.

Use a center-punch tool to make an indentation in the cover on the shear-head bolts holding the cylinder in place. Utilize the drill with a 3/16-inch bit to carefully drill a hole into the center of the bolts. Take out the exposed bolts by using a screw extractor. Take out the lock cylinder and ignition tumbler.
