I understand that the original distributors used
by Honda for much of the 90s have displayed
major issues. My vehicle still has the original
dizzy at 81K mi. My question:

Has the dizzy available from the dealer as a
replacement part (namely, 30100-P2E-A02;
TD-80U; TEC) been re-designed so as to
avoid certain of these issues, eg, the encasement
of the tdc/ckp/cyp sensor in heat-susceptible
plastic?

Is a non-Honda aftermarket part better in this
case?

Hi maddervlad,

Only distributor of pre 94 have the problem and they have since been rectified with a better design. That is the reason your distributor is still working.

After market parts will never be better than OEM, unless the OEM has a flaw.

That's what I thought. I'll stick to the Honda-offered
TEC dizzy when the time does come.

Thank you.
