I need to know how a radiator hose left loose could cause coolant or water to get into my engine causeing it to ruin my engine?

That's simple.

It couldn't. The only way for coolant to get into the engine is via the headgasket or a cracked sleeve/head.

Now, if you lost coolant through that leaking hose and you overheating resulting in a torn headgasket then that is different.
