hey hey, so I am having that problem with my 88 civic where the idle surges and it won't start after its warm. I have replaced the starter, plugs, battery and the distributor(not just the cap). Now What?

The fast idle thermo valve (FITV) or the idle air control valve (IACV) are most likely acting up.

I would first try a good throttle body cleaning with intake clean (make sure you get into the idle ports as well). If that doesn't help you may have a vacuum leak or the valves may need to be removed and given or thorough cleaning, or they may need to be replaced.
