2003 Honda Accord Radio w/o nav: audio goes in and out rand

Radio display works fine but the audio goes out randomly and stays out for several days at a time. A loud pop is heard usually right before the audio goes out and typically occurs right before the audio goes back on. Problem initially was rare in occurrence but has become more frequent.
