2003 Honda Accord Airbag computer bad again?

My mechanic replaced the airbag computer in my 03 accord after the airbag warning light came on and the diagnostic code indicated the computer was bad. Nine months later the light has come on again and the code again indicates a bad computer. Could we have had 2 bad computers? Or could it be another problem such as a bad electrical connection, etc? The mechanic is willing to replace the still under warranty computer, but I'm wondering if the problem could be caused by something else.

Hi accordquest,

Control units seldoms fails and for 2 units to fail would be even less likely.

What was the troube code retrieved?

Thanks for your comment/question. Although I was there when the mechanic ran the scan I did not see the trouble code. All I know is that he told me the code indicated that the airbag computer is bad, and that this is what he said was the problem last summer before he replaced the original airbag computer.

I will have to see if I can find out what the code was.

I am beginning to wonder if he really knows how to fix the problem as I am having a hard time getting him to set a time to bring the car in. The warning light came on and he ran the scan almost two months ago.

The computer should still be under warranty.

If the control unit is under warranty and the mechanic claims that it is faulty, then get him to replace it.

It is going to hurt him more than you if it does not solve the problem.
