when i am stopped and i resume stepping on the gas.... the car hesitates for a few seconds. do you have any idea what the problem could be?

This sounds like it can be time for a tune up and to clean the throttle actuator. Here are three guides that will help you fix the problem.

Yep I had this problem the throttle bore was filthy. once I cleaned it the problem went away! I love this site.

Yep, me too except I had a misfire codes as well. All fixed now.
