I recently have replaced my Alternator, and now when I put the car in park it blows a fuse, then I can't role my windows down or my gauges will not work and I can not get it out of park. At first I thought it was the brake switch but when I take that out and I start the car in Nuetral and put it in reverse the same fuse blows, but it won't blow if I put it in drive then in put it in reverse. Confused.

Hi jscodding,

Let me know which fuse is blowing and I will try to find the possibilities.

Its the brake light and instrument pannel fuse, but also when it happens none of my power windows will work. I have had a diagnostic scan ran on it and found out that it faulted with the Gear position switch, so now I am going to trace its wire back to the gear shifter to make sure that no wires have melted or stripped or something. If you have any ideas I would love to hear them.

Hi jscodding,

If I am not mistaken, your model should have the Gear Shift inhibitor switch installed at the trans end behind the front left wheel.

Check for any bare wires or suspicious looking harness near the trans. Follow up from the wire harness, to the connectors, there might be some damage to the wire harness. Movement of the engine when shifting into gears could cause bare wires to contact and shorting.
