When im driving my car feels as if it downshifts when I make a turn ( driving on a curved road). When I start to take off from a stop my car hesitates. My engine makes a roaring noise only when I accelerate. I dont know if all the symptoms are from the same problem. Im getting horrible gas mileage. Ive replaced the distributer, rotor, air filter, and spark plugs. I didnt replace the wires. I dont know what the problem could be. Can you please help? I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Hi ktangelbaby8,

When you slow down, the trans should downshift and I believe you are feeling the shock of the gear change. The engine also revs very high when you accelerate so I believe the trans throttle cable needs an adjustment, it has been adjusted too short which would cause harsh upshifting due to high pressure.

Hesitation can be caused by faulty wires. Test their resistance, should be between 7 to 20 k ohm depending on length, longer highewr resistance. If no resistance or over 25 k ohm. The wires need replacement.

A faulty TPS, MAP or low fuel pressure would also cause the problem.
