Suspension problem
1998 Honda Accord 4 cyl Automatic 160000 miles

For three weeks now I have been hearing a loud and quick banging noise (2 or 3x's) everytime I start or stop. Most of the time it is from the riight front area and sometimes on the left front side. I thought it might be a shock or strut, but I am not sure.
Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Domenick,

Noise diagnosis/rectification is something cyber mechanics can't help much. The following are conditions that have to be met,
1. Exact location of the source.
2. Type of noise, pitch, level etc
3. Time and condition of occurrence, when it happens, road speed, road condition etc.
4. Frequency, how often it occurs.

You mentioned stop start condition, I would suggest checking the ball joints and suspension links. Strts usually has abnormal noise while moving on undulating road condidtions, maybe some bumps, seldom on stop start condition.
