Do I check the transmission fluid with the car on or off? Do I use honda transmission fluid? I bought this car used with 152,000 miles and no idea when the transmission fluid was changed. The trans feels like its slips sometimes, should I add or change the fluid, or will that even make a difference?

Hi ja-pee,

ATF should be checked with engine off and when hot.

The recommended Honda ATF should be used.

Changing is better than topping up but it is not necessary to flush.
