My radiator has a long crack in the top and has been leaking fluid. I want to replace the radiator. It is an expensive job, and I can save some money by purchasing a non-honda radiator, and having it replaced by somebody I trust. Is it okay to replace the part in my car with a non-certified honda part, or should I only replace it with a certified part?

I see no problem with going aftermarket.
Good luck

Hi irjagirl,

Yup, agree with Docfixit but the top tank usually cracks when there is shortage of coolant in the system. After replacement, pressure test the system for leaks.

In our country, we can get a replacement top portion at the radiator shop, cheaper than replaceing the whole radiator.

Yes, I would just replace the top tank. The reason it cracks is the very hottest coolant from the engine enters the rad. At this point, after time the plastic just gives up. The rest of the rad. Is ok. The only thing to consider is down time, having the old rad repaired will be cheaper, but will take a little longer as having a new replacment rad you can just take one out and install new one at the same time
