Accord Wagon starts right away but begins to zoom. In other words rpms go up and down, up and down. Once transmission is placed in the drive position, the rpms settle down.

Any ideas about what is causing this problem and what remedy you suggest?

Hi dbramblett,

Symptoms indicates the idling speed is too high. Possible causes are :

1. Faulty IAC.
2. Leaking vacumns. Look out for disconnected, pnctured or broken hoses.
3. Faulty Fast Idle Thermo Valve.
4. Lack of coolant
5. Clogged coolant hoses to IAC and FITV.
6. Idle speed out of adjsutment. Readjust to rectify.
