Computer problem
1991 Honda Accord 4 cyl Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 194000 miles

about 3 years ago I lost my gas cap and was stupid enough to drive around for about 6 months with it off, eventually my check engine light started coming on. Eventually my friend told me that I need a new gas cap to fix the problem. Well I got one and the check engine light did not go away. So I bought a code reader from my local Kragen and found out that my o2 sensor was failing. So I replaced it with a friend of mine and the issue was fixed. For the time being. After maybe a year the light came on again. I did another check engine read and it gave me the same code that my o2 sensor had failed. Now I need my car to pass smog and of course it wont with the check engine on. Im unsure of what the issue, it could be that my gas cap that isn't correct (which I did purchase a generic cap but it was made for my car) or another issue entirely. Any suggestions?

Are you sure of year of vehicle because if its a 91 it will be run on the dyno and having the check engine light on does not matter if it will pass or fail
