Im about to purchase this car, and want to make sure the head, gasket, or any other part isnt damaged. I was informed that recently the car was stalling, and driven for 5 minutes at a time till it made it home. The owner then noticed a loose spark plug and tightened it. I test drove the car, and it ran very smooth, didnt notice anything wrong. Im not sure if the car was stalling from overheating which caused expansion and the loosening of the sparkplug. Any signs I could look for before I buy the car?

Easy way to check for loss of compression in engine due to failed head gaske or head is by letting engine cool. While cool, remove radiator cap and ensure coolant is full. With cap off and NOONE in front of car, start engine up and rev it up a few thousand RPM. If coolant shoots out of cap opening then you have issue, if no cooling shoots out than most likely head is good.
