My car is a 5 speed and I am having trouble getting the car to go into any gear. It will go but it is very very hard to do. Can you tell me what might be wrong with it

I am not sure how it is done but this sounds like an adjustment of the cables to the tranny from the shifter is needed. No problems going in to any other gear?
