I changed the TPS because I received a code stating to replace sensor but the idle was fine. Vehicle would start at around 1,000 rpm's and drop down to about 750 rpm's when warm. I replaced it but the one I had received was defective. I put the old one back in but now the vehicle idles around 1,500 rpm's. I have it turned as far down as I can get it. Being that the TPS is spring loaded, could I have accidentally put it in a wrong way? Other than the idle it runs fine but I still have that check engine light.

If the idle was not high and the sensor corrected the code, I doubt you installed it wrong. I suspect you just need to adjust the TPS because the idle control is part of the TPS.

There is an adjustment process and I attached the steps that you need to follow. However, it appears they require a scan tool to do this. Let me know if you have questions. If you don't have a scan tool that can perform this then we may need to take it to a shop perform this process.
