Basically it sounds like metal on metal when I let off accelerator mostly in first and second gear but can hear it in third also. Goes away if clutch is pressed or in neutral coasting. Also don't hear it when accelerating. Only when I let off. Grinding.

Hi,

It sounds like a bearing in the transmission itself which is making noise when pressure is applied. Have you checked the transmission fluid level?

Start with that if it hasn't already been done. Here are the directions. The attached picture correlates with the directions.

1. Remove the filler plug.
2. Check that the oil level is up to the lower edge of the filler plug hole.
3. Check that the oil is not noticeably dirty.
4. Tighten the filler plug to the specified torque.
Tightening torque: 32 ± 2 Nm (24 ± 1 ft. Lbs.)

Let me know what you find and pay attention to see the condition of the fluid. If it is low, top it off and see if the sound changes. Here is the type of fluid required for this transmission.

Fluid Type. DiaQueen New Multi Gear Oil (GL-3)
SAE Grade. SAE 75W-80

Take care,
Joe
