1997 4wd two door yukon. Auto trans shift on the column. The shift lever is stuck in park. If I try long enough and push the brake several times I can get it to work and sometimes it just works normally. When I can get it out of park everything else is fine. It shifts through the gears fine and drives fine. Any suggestions. Thanks Gary

You are probably have one of two things giving you the problem. It is either the brake switch or the Brake/Transmission Shift Interlock Solenoid(BTSI) it is loated in the steering column. If you look on the bottom of the column You should see a hole in the plastic cover. You can us a small screw driver and insert it into the hole to push the plunger up for the BTSI solenoid.
