Safety issues removing rear shocks HELP!

Is it safe to replace my rear shocks on my ramp or do I need a lift. The reason why is because I fear if I remove the shocks on the ramp the car will drop on me or will the spring be enough to keep the car up.

If the shocks are separate from the springs then you are fine. All the shocks do is dampen rebound on the suspension, the springs hold up the car. What car is this?
