I have a 78 Itasca moterhome with a 454 in it it has 80k miles on it, it ran fine when I parked it, well yester day I put a 40amp charger on it and left it overnight(woops).
when I start it my alternator gets to hot to touch in about 5 seconds! And it starts to eat up my belt, (i am sure that it is spinning frealy)
but if I take eather the plug or the big red wire off of the alternator it does not get hot and doesnt eat up my belt.
I have replaced the alternator and it still does the same thing, I got my volt meater out and did some testing.( But I realy didnt know what I was doing)

if anyone knows what is going on PLEASE HELP!
thanks Dank

You may want to check your batteries. Have them load tested individually, with the posts dissconnected. Most part stores will do it for free.

I had it load tested, and it is a good batt, I also found out that my voltage regulator is builtin to the alternator, so that has allready been replaced!
