My car was not running properly so I decided to have the fuel filter changed. Before and after the change, inorder to crank the car you had to spray eyther or gas into the engine but once it started it would run until you shut the car off then it would not start again. What could be causing this and is it fixable by me or do I need to contact a mechanic?

My husband changed the fuel filter and now all it does is backfire when u spray eyther into the intake hole. I tries to crank and turn over but it wont. I was told the filter could be on backwards.

The filter should be marked in or out as well as maybe an arrow for direction. It may even say flow with an arrow. It's easy to check. If it continues then take it to a pro and have him check it out.
