1994 GMC Jimmy Idles high all the time

Engine Performance problem
1994 GMC Jimmy 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

This vehicle has a 4.3 Vortec. Everything seems to be OK except it never Idles down. It doesn't miss or backfire or stutters it's like it never warms up. Could this be an Idle Air control, or the TPS? Is there a way of checking these, and the check engine light flashes on and off sometimes.

Try cleaning out the idle air control valve and pull the code/s from the computer

Hey one more thing; can't I use a jumper to check for codes? And unhook the battery to clear them?

Yes you can use a jumper on the A to B on the diagnostic link connector to pull the code/s and disconnect to clear it
