I have a GMC 1500 suburban, 1992 model, manual shift, approx 100,000klm and the abs sensors on the front wheel have melted. I had new discs and pads added not long ago. Why have they overheated? They were not under any heavy work loan at the time- towing etc

I am more inclined to think it isn't a case of overheating the brakes. When the brakes were done, were there any other things done, like sway bar bushings maybe? I have seen guys unintentionally burn other components while try to work on another one.

One tech I know cut a drivshaft in half while cutting an exhaust pipe with a torch.

No other work was done apart from the brakes, the warning light has stayed on since and came on within 2 hours of the brakes being repaired

CAll the shop that did the work and explain what you found. The sensors don't melt without unusual help in my experience.

I have seen problems with metal shavings, debris etc getting on the sensor face and causing the lights to go on and abs malfunction.
