Without the heater on even every time I drive my car it seems to get excessively hot around my feet, there is what I would call a whistle coming from engine area when the car is idling in drive. I am starting to wonder if my transmission is going out on me? The thermostat runs normal temperatures on the dash display, which is why I m curious about the excessive heat radiating around my feet.

The blend door may be leaking hot air, the door seal may be damaged or the door is out of adjustment. Get down under the dash and as see if you can feel hot air coming from the lover vent with the setting on face or demist. There should be no air flow from the lower vent if the indicator is not showing this direction.

So I crawled down there and checked around where my feet ride and I didnt feel any air flow down there with my vents positioned as they normally are, upon further inspection I discovered the foot warmer exit always has at least minor draft coming from it on both defrost, and face setting, and works as intended on other setting, but the minor draft doesnt seem like it would be enough for the hot feet effect I always get.

Is the floor getting excessively hot?Try taping the foot warmer vent closed and see if that makes a difference as well
