Does this car require transmission fluid, and if so, where do you put it in or check it?

Yes it requires lubricant. There should be a screw in cap on the transmission with a small dipstick. This is not like an automatic where the dipstick is long and can be accessed from above.
Look at the transmission for a small plastic cap screwed directly into the trans.

Your owners manual should have a picture of it and its location.
