1989 Geo Prizm Stuck CV axles

1989 Geo Prizm Front Wheel Drive Automatic 190000 miles

I cant get either of the cv axles to pop out I have tired using a gear shaft puller and a slide hammer but have had no luck I have even used come along and placed a cable around the backside of the axle and pulled and they still wont pop out. So I dont know if there is something else that needs to be disconnected or if its just going to take more prying. I do have the cv axles free of the everything else so the only thing I can figure that is holding them are the little clips on the ends. If there is something im missing or a better way of removing them could you let me know? Thank you.
