2000 Geo Metro doesn't always start

Sometimes turn the ignition and starter doesn't engage, no clicking or nothing. Everything else works, gauges, lights, etc. Starter is good, thinking must be an electreical connection possibly at the shifter lever or from there back. Is there another swich to look for that would cause problem? Thanks Sundy
