Speedometer has failed suddenly along with odometer. Removed transmission cable. It appears OK. Never experienced symptoms of a squeaky cable or erratic speed readings before sudddn failure.

does this transmission have an electronic sensor?

If a gear has failed could this be in the tranny AND/OR the instrument cluster? What steps must I take to make repair? Is there a part in the tranny that the cable inserts into that may have failed? If so how can I remove and replace this part?
