460 engine 4V. Motor turns over great but will only start if I squirt a little gas in the carb. Driving down the road acts like it's running out of gas, but I can drive gently and get back home. The clear fuel filter never fills up, but I can see small squirts of gas while running. I recently installed a new fuel tank and sending unit with all new hoses and vent hardware.

It sounds like the fuel pump is going out or you have a small hole in one of the fuel lines and it is allowing the system to suck in air. I would inspect the lines and if they look okay replace the fuel pump. Also do you have a fuel filter screwed into the carburetor? If so, I would replace that, that clog up often. Please let us know what happens.
