My car starts but will not stay started all of a sudden could it be the fuel filter? And is the filter inside the fuel tank?

Good morning my name is Roy and I will assist.

The filter is external and under the car. Very easy replacement. It is possible that it is the issue but unlikely. The filter has a bypass and will allow the engine to run even when clogged. It is more likely a fuel delivery issue such as a fuel pump. The pressure would need to be checked as well to verify is there is an issue.

Also, make sure the security light or ant theft light is not on. That will also cause this issue. Turn the key to the on position and see if the light goes out in about five seconds. If it does not then there is an issue. That will also cause this problem.

Check these and report back with the results for us.

Roy
