I just tuned the vehicle up last weekend. Fuel mileage and run ability improved dramatically, but today put $15.00 in gas gave me a bit over half a tank of fuel. Put approximately twenty five to thirty miles on the vehicle and it's now low enough that the low fuel light Is on. I checked for fuel leaks and everything is dry there is no leaks.

Welcome to 2CarPros.

I'm not sure how many gallons that got you, but regardless, that isn't good. Are you certain the gauge is correct? Is the check engine light staying on while the engine runs? Here is what I suggest. First, we need to confirm the gauge is correct. The easiest way to check is to simply fill the tank. Drive the vehicle for approximately one hundred miles and refill the tank. At that point divide the number of miles traveled by how many gallons of gas was needed to refill the tank. At least we will know approximately the MPG you are getting and compare it to how quickly the gauge drops.

If the gauge seems correct, then we need to check if you have a leaking fuel injector. That would require testing fuel pressure and checking for fuel pressure drop off. Basically, if the pressure drops off quickly, there is a chance an injector is stuck open. However, I would think that would cause an issue with how it runs.

Let me know. If you can figure approximately mpg you got on the fifteen dollars of fuel, let me know. I don't know how much fuel is where you are or how many gallons you got for fifteen dollars.

Take care,
Joe
