My van makes a clunking noise in the front end when driving over the slightest bump. I do not hear it when driving on a smooth surface. I was told my bushings may need replacing. What are bushings? Where are they located and can this be costly?

Bushing are rubber pieces that is there to absorb / reduce friction. It depends on what the bushing is part of as far as the labor costs. Most suspension parts use bushings.
