Engine Performance problem
1999 Ford Windstar 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

IN ORDER TO CHANGE THE PLUGS AND WIRES DO I HAVE TO TAKE THE pLENUM OFF IN ORDER TO REACH THE REAR PLUGS AND DISTRIBUTER TO REPLACE THE WIRES, AS THEY ARE ALL ORIGINAL. THE ENGINE RUNS ROUGH WHEN ACCELERATING AND CRUISING. A DIAGNOSIS SHOWS CYLINDER MISFIRE AND PLUG WIRE ARCING.

It is not necessary to remove intake plenum. If you have long arms, remove the air intake snorkle and see if you can reach your arm around that way.

If not, jack the car up SECURELY, and use a ratchet with long extension bars to reach the plugs from underneath. Follow the angle of the exhaust pipe. It's a long reach, but it works for me.

Your view will be obstructed either way, but feel your way around w/ fingers, take your time.
