I have a 1993 Ford Thunderbird, 3.8-liter engine, and automatic transmission. All interior lights including trunk and under hood lights stay on after the car is parked and turned off. Any idea why this is happening?

Thanks Kirkwa

Did you try to turn it off by moving dome/instrument dimmer switch?
If it's still on then you have a short in dome light circuit.
Let us know what you find out!

Yes, this was the first thing I did. Would you suggest replacing the ignition/dimmer switch as a first step?

No! Not yet.
Try to pull the plug at back of dimmer/doom switch and see whether light stays on.
If it still does then you have short in circuit.

Sorry for the delay in answering back, I was side tracked with some personal things. Nevertheless, I did find the problem. It seems there was two issues, one with the plunger switch in the door and one with the glove compartment light switch.

I replaced the plunger switch in the driver’s door and this solved the problem with the interior lights staying on.

Unfortunately, the next morning the battery was completely dead again. After some searching, I found that the glove box light was staying on. I replaced the switch and all seems to be well.

Thanks again for the help!
