2002 Ford Thunderbird Ignition Coils

Engine Performance problem
2002 Ford Thunderbird V8 Automatic 122000 miles

I had 2 ignition coils replaced by Ford at a cost of almost $900. Now the car needs more coils replaced and I just can't justify a $1000 bill for 2 more coils each year until they are all replaced. Can I do this work myself? I know absolutely nothing about cars, although I can change a tire. The only mechanic I know is my brother, however he lives 800 miles away.

I only have the receipt for the work and as far as I can tell there isn't an indication of a code number. However under "description" is printed SP 468 and DG 529. Ford replaced #6 and #7 in January, in April it started misfiring again.

Not that I am aware of. I don't believe the car has ever been tuned-up. It has been worked on by one Ford Dealer since I bought it in 2002. They did the scheduled warranty maintenance and then any other issues I may have had in the past.
