1997 Ford Thunderbird 6 cyl Automatic

When i'm driving, and go to turn my car makes loud sounds(grinding) loud squeaking sounds. Is this caused by low fluid?

Yes it could be power steering fluid low. I would first check the power steeriing fluid and make sure it is full. If it is then see what color it is and check to see if looks metalic. If it is metalic looking then I would flush the system and see if that changes it and use some lucas power steering additive. If the noise stays then you could have a bad pump or rack unit. Thanks and let me know if there is anything else I can do.
