My 95 Ford taurus 3.8 liter wouldn't start. It just clicked when I turned key. Mechanic said that solenoid was detached and attached it back.
It ran for 2days with the yellow check engine light comming on after a 10 mile drive. After 2 days it quit about 20 miles from home. This is the original starter.
When I called a tow van he just connected the battery positive to the starter and I was able to drive and send me home.
I am afraid to drive the car lest I get stuck out at night with a bum car.
Is it time to replace the starter or the solenoid? Will it make the problem go away or is there a posible underlying electric wiring problem?

According to ford they only made the tempo till 1994 and the largest engine they put in it was the 3.0 if you instead have a 95 taurus it looks like the selinoid is similar to the tempo and is located under the hood near top of inner fender probably on drivers side. When you say it quit do you mean the engine quit running or the starter quit working again. Based on your semi clear explanation I would say replace the selinoid. Make sure the fender mounting screws are clean and not stripped! Then see if there is any other problem.
