I have a 1994 Ford Tempo. When I drive straight for a bit and I lay off the gas to slow down some, then reapply the gas to speed back up, the car will jolt and make a loud clank noise. It seems that when I step on the gas again, the transmission downshifts and when that happens is when I feel the jolt. I had to motor and transmission mounts replaced and it still does it. Any ideas? Thank you.

There are 3 mounts in that car 2 on the transmission(front & rear)1 on the motor by engine belts. It's generally the trans mounts that clunk/clank. Also have your other drive components checked. Axles, ball joints, stuts, and especially the lower control arm sway bar BUSHINGS!They definately are known for loud clanks with sudden forward/reverse motion. Good luck
