1993 Ford Tempo belts

I have a new belt for my car but after puttin git on it is still very very lose. How can I make it fit better?

Not enough information. Why did you change belt. How did you loosen the old belt to remove it.I suspect the old belt broke which means your not sure how to put it on. You put it on wrong therefore it is loose?Which belt is it?What does it look like. Skinny/wide?
