My 1993 ford tempo will not shift gears at all and the speedometer will not work, this problem seems to be intermittent however and will sometimes operate normally. Can you tell me what it could be?

Bad speed sensor or it's connection? Check it out and let us know. :)
Good luck.

Replaced vehicle speed sensor and still am experiencing the same symptoms, no speedometer and no transmission shift, but now, I've realized that the problem seems to occur when the vehicle has been warmed up, could there be a problem with the speedometer driven gear which I think is located in the transmission? Or could the speedometer cable end where it fits into the speed sensor be rounded and not driving the speedometer head? Although that seems to be an impossibility since the speedometer does work intermittently and after all the sensor is still not signaling the transmission to shift. The installation of the speed sensor went perfectly so I cannot understand what else it could be, unless the new speed sensor has malfunctioned already what do you think? Please help.
