Ford Taurus Coils

I have a 2001 Ford Tarus I recently took it to a repair shop to have the Coolant Flushed. When they were done with the repair the poured water right on top of spark plug wires. One of my coils went out right when they were done. Could them pouring water and lots of it caused my coil problem?

I suppose it could have helped a weak one die. But why would your mechanic do this? Not the smartest thing Ive ever heard of!
