I have a 2002 Ford Taurus and I'm trying to repalce the alternator. The car has a 24v DOHC engine. All the bolts are out, wire harness is detached, the wire is unbolted. Now here's the problem... I can't fit the alternator between the Wheelwell and engine to lift it out. If I have to take it out though the bottom, what all do I have to remove?

You have to remove the crankshaft pulley.
Don't forget, it has a left hand thread.

You will also need to go under the car and find a rubber cap near the oil pan. It will give you access to the teeth of the flywheel. You will need to jam a screwdriver there to prevent the crankshaft from turning.

Don't you just love Fords???
