My wife went to leave in her car and it would not go into any gear but park. She tried putting it in drive and reverse, but nothing would engage but park. Any ideas what could cause this? It had not been giving any problems like slipping gears or anything.

Sounds like a linkage problem. Will the transmission go to neutral? If not, it is a linkage problem. If it will shift out of park, it is an internal problem.

When shifted into any other gear it will roll, linkage has been checked and it is fine.

Check the brake light switch, yellow switch with a connector cable going into it, it is attached to the top of the brake pedal. Press the brake pedal and have someone check and see if the brake lights come on
