Let me guess... Your code was a P0401--EGR insufficient flow? If I'm correct, It's a shame you replaced the EGR for nothing. The problem is caused by sensor that monitors EGR flow. It gets plugged up and then can't read. It has to be replaced, it cannot be cleaned. I hope I'm on the right track guessing what your code was. Otherwise it would be good to post the actual code so it can be diagnosed correctly. Hope this helps.
