Computer problem
2001 Ford Taurus 6 cyl

Hello I know what the code means but don't know how to permanently fix it. My car runs great but because of this I can't pass inspection. It started when my A/C compressor died and I routed the serpentine belt to avoid the compressor. If I Unplug power to A/C compressor will it reset computer as if it doesn't exist and stop code? I need cheap fix I'm on fixed income.

If you unplug the compressor, it will not reset your monitor history. As far emissions goes, any codes in the system will cause an automatic fail. Its rediculous. Let me look into this code a little bit, and see what I can whip up for ya.

All my information is pointing to the tcm- transmission control module. Why are you going the a/c compressor route?

Hello Mad Mike thanks for the response. On other sites it seems that other people had the code come up when they also had a/c issues.

Try clearing the code, and drive the car about 100 miles. That should reset all your monitors, and get you to pass inspection-as long as your check engine light doesnt come back on. You can clear the code your self by disconnecting your battery for 1 minute, but I recommend 5 minutes. Keep us posted
