Hi
I have a 97 ford taurus that intermittantly/randomly shuts down in warmer weather. I am fairly sure the fuel system is shutting down as you can't hear the priming humm when you turn the key forward slightly. After 20-30 minutes you can start the car back up and it runs fine. I have taken it to the mechanics several times but since there is no error code they can't help. They think it may be the fuel pump but until it perminatly fails they are not sure. There is no overheating indication. It has been doing this for over a year. I have already changed the cables, spark plugs, fuel filter.
Thanks For your time

Check the fuel pressure and test the fuel pump relay

Hi
I had the car in at Ford last thursday and friday. They ran it 50k and left it idleing in the sun with a pressure tester on it and it didn't fail for them. They said the pressure was constant. I have it in at another mechanic today and he thinks it may be the ignition coil overheating and shutting down.
