Transmission problem
1997 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Automatic 100000 miles

I'm thinking about buying this car for a good price but when at a stop it goes into neutral. You put it back into drive and next time you stop it goes back into neutral unless you keep the rpms up to around 1000. Any ideas on about how much this might cost to fix or what is wrong? I think it sounds like a pressure switch on the transmission. HELP

This is a classic symptom of a cracked piston in the forward clutch. This is a repair that will require removal and disassembly of the transmission.

This will eventually worsen to the point that the transmission fails.

In short, this is a transmission job waiting to happen. I suggest that you take this into account in the purchase price.
