Taurus GE is 200,000 miles, during oil change at shop diagnosed with coolant leak below radiator and thermostat housing somewhere. Reservoir had not indicated leak/loss of coolant though. Tech replaced thermostat during check but broke off two bolt/scews at housing(?) Next to intake manifold (?). Told me use sealant over bolt holes or replace manifold. Why?

Hi, well unfortuneately broken bolts are a big part of our job. The reason the bolts broke there is due to coolant leaking and corrodeing bolts. And when the mech tried to remove them they snapped. Now to repair these either you have to drill the broken bolts and use an extractor to remove them or replace the manafold. As these bolts are broken off in the intake manafold. Most of the time we can get them out. But sometimes replacement is nessacary. Billymac
