02 Ford Taurus chronic heater core failure

I am desperate for help on our 02 Ford Taurus (~120K miles). We are getting ready to replace the fourth heater core in just over 2 years. We always have Ford original parts put in and the service center at our local Ford dealer has been very helpful (charging us for parts only) but still is costing us in terms of car rental and service. Has anyone else had this chronic problem or am I just unlucky? Please help!

Thanks.

Electrolysis is a problem with some of the fords. There are TSBs that the dealer should have looked at, ask them if they did. Bad grounds will cause this. Also there can be restrictors put on the inlet side of the heater, although I have only read about them, not having had a problem in our shop with these.

A good way to stop the electrolysis, is after flushing the entire coolant system out, mix the coolant with distilled water.
